Is Page One of Google Possible?
By Larry Westfall
In a word, Yes. Is it difficult? Depends. Let me explain. I live in Thailand and have web sites related to Thailand. Getting on page 1 of Google or any other search engine for the keyword "Thailand" would be almost impossible (though I am working on it). My new hometown is a small place called Khon Kaen and I have a retirement blog so my focus was on the phrase "Khon Kaen". If you search for Khon Kaen Retirement you will see my site is ranked #1. But, it doesn't do me much good as hardly anyone searches for that phrase. However, there are about 50,000 searches per month for the phrase - Khon Kaen. So, that is what I went after. In my blog, I use the term - Khon Kaen - throughout. When I leave a comment at someone else's related blog, my name is Khon Kaen. That way the anchor text for the link to the retirement web site is Khon Kaen. I used to make the mistake and use my real name on the comment form - now my name is my keyword or phrase. After a few months, I have finally made it to the bottom of page 1 of Google. Once in a while, depending on time of day and what server you access, I may be on the top of page 2. The goal now is to crack the top 5 and be "above the fold" and try to get to #1 for the phrase, Khon Kaen. Then, I will work on a couple of other keywords and phrases to attract even more traffic. So, it can be done. Find your own small niche, add original content regularly, and get backlinks. You will see your site climb to the top of the search engines.

That sure is interest never thought about it that way before. One of my sites are subject to the town of Park City and there is no competition so I am number 2 can't beat number one out, he has two sites a .org and a .com I think there is something there with that. I know some people buy more then one domain name but he is using both of course the site is the same.
Larry, thanks for explaining all that, I personally found it very interesting and extremely useful. I will keep your stategies in mind with my own website when I get it up and running. I hope you can crack the top 5 in Google and ultimately #1 - good luck to you.
