Is Thailand Street Food Safe?

By Larry Westfall

One of the many things that Thailand is known for is food. Usually hot and spicy, Thai food will definitely awaken your palate.

Not all Thai food will be five alarm. And not all food in Thailand is Thai. There are a multitude of fine European, American, Japanese, Indian, and other restaurants everywhere in Thailand - not just Bangkok.

But, if you want to experience real Thai food, get it form the local sidewalk diner. Actually, not a diner - but a street vendor.

These folks have been cooking food for generations and have some of the best and cheapest food in the country.

You can get anything from soup to bar-b-que to salads to fruits and vegetables. And most dishes are under one dollar US.

The only caution I would give is to avoid raw seafood. I would only eat foods that are cooked and cooked throughout. In most cases you can select what you want and tell them to cook it more if it looks too rare for you. Be safe and make sure it is cooked.

The other great thing about the Thai food street vendors is most are open 24 hours per day.

Guaranteed - you will never go hungry in Thailand.
