Make Money Selling Photos Online With Fotomoto
By Larry Westfall
Photography is a hobby of mine and I love taking pictures everywhere I go in Thailand. Since I retired, I have lots of time to take photographs and have acquired thousands of pictures over the past nine months. besides sharing them with family and friends, I recently started looking for ways to make some money with my photos. I am no professional, but some of the pictures I have taken have gotten some high praise, so I decided to find an outlet to sell them. I looked around online at places that sell stock photos or the newer microstock photos sites. These are very popular and have millions of photos for sale. They can make you money, but you need a lot of photos since you only earn 50 cents to 5 dollars per photo download. After searching around a bit more, I found Fotomoto. I was immediately impressed. Fotomoto is free to join, works on almost any platform from an HTML website to Wordpress to Blogger and many, many more. It only requires a few lines of code to be pasted to your index page and you automatically have a website to sell your photos. Fotomoto's script places a "buy print", "buy card", "download", and "ecard" links directly under (or over) each photo you have on your site. It is almost magic! The other nice thing with Fotomoto is that you can set your own prices and what size prints and cards you want to sell. But - the topper is - you get 85% of the profit. This is way more than 50 cents at a stock photo site. And, it is your site so you can set it up any way you want. You will not be competing with millions of photos on a stock photo site, but you will be solely responsible for getting traffic to view your web site. The best thing, in my opinion, is to do both. Use Fotomoto on a site you control, and also join some of the stock photo sites and see which ones produce better. Both types will make you money, so it is a win-win solution. You can see Fotomoto on my KhonKaenBuzz website

Thank you for sharing this valuable information, Larry. I'll be checking out Fotomoto. Keep up the good work. Best wishes for a Happy New Year. Frederick
Larry, You've provided some great information here. I would be interested in learning if there is a particular type or category of photo that sells better than others? Rosemary
Yes, thanks for sharing this information. But let the "publisher" (maybe that's the wrong term) beware. I used a site similar to FOTOMOTO called PHOTRADE and I made the mistake of uploading many photos there, and nowhere else. They closed down. I lost great shots of Machu Pichu, Peru and Puerto Rico. Nothing hurts more than losing photos, access to memories we might not otherwise always remember. Can you tell, I'm still sad about my lost pics? Let me turn my frown upside down :o) Happy NEw YEar!

Sophia. Sorry for your loss. With Fotomoto - you just upload the photos to your website, or wordpress blog, or blogger blog - you still keep the photos. You only email Fotomoto the original when a sale is made - and you still keep the photo and can sell it over and over.
