To Spin Or Not To Spin, That Is The Question

By Larry Westfall

I have been marketing using articles off and on for the past 5 or so years. I have done it by sending off one article to an article directory, and I have also done it by sending the same article to hundreds of directories.

I have also played around a little bit with spinning articles, but haven't really done any marketing with them. That is, until now.

I recently picked up a piece of software that allows me to spin articles and submit them to thousands of article directories. So, this means that different variations of the same article will now be posted all over the web.

In case you are unfamiliar with article spinning, there is software, both online and offline, that allows you to take an article and make hundreds of different articles out of it. All you have to do is write your text like this: {large|big|stupendous|huge} and the spinner will choose a word at random and use it for your article.

Now, you have to do this many times in your article and not only spin individual words, but phrases and sentences too so that the article looks fresh.

I have also seen articles written that were obviously spun and made no sense whatsoever and these are usually done with a built in thesaurus and the individuals didn't proofread their work.

So, what do you think? Is spinning articles devious? Is it a smart way to market and get hundreds or thousands of backlinks quickly? Has the recent Google algorithm change made it worthless since Google supposedly doesn't like content farms anymore?

Let me know what you think.
