Why I Deleted Your Article

By Larry Westfall

Among other things, I run an Article Directory. I am not as big as EzineArticles, yet, but I am trying.

I receive over 300 articles daily, and I manually look them over and keep about as many as I delete. Here are the main reasons I delete your articles.

1. You cannot spell and are too lazy to use a spell checker.

2. You posted your URL in the title.

3. You put 17 exclamation points in the the title.

4. You don't know what paragraphs are.

5. You posted your article about dogs in the "Credit" category.

6. You had 13 links in your article when all I allow is 2.

7. You capitalized every letter in your title.

8. You wrote a classified ad, not an informative article.

9. You spun your article and now it makes absolutely no sense.

10. You only have a link in your Author's Resource Box instead of a short Bio with your links.

Article marketing can be profitable and is a good way to establish yourself as an authority in your field. However, doing any or all of the above won't get your articles published.

Take your time, proof your article, check your spelling, and follow the rules at the Article Directory site.

Remember, it is just as easy for me to hit the "Publish" button as it is to hit the "Delete" button.

Thank you for for this intel. Improper comma usage, lack of spaces between paragraphs and spun content are my pet peeves. I don't envy your having to manually wade through some of the articles I've seen auto-posted in many directories.

Larry, if it weren't for that bottle of booze in your pic, I'd admonish you for admonishing others about their spelling whilst spelling 'Your' as 'You' in the title of your article. At least you're having a great time while sorting through the incoming flood. I don't think I could handle 300 articles without at least a case of beer. Is Thai beer as good as they say it is?

Nick - corrected title - thanks - and it is not booze - it is Singha Beer

Over 300 articles daily? When do you sleep?

biblefreeorg - I don't write 300 articles - only approve or delete. I could actually put it on "automatic" and approve everything - but not after seeing all the junk. I usually wind up deleting 25% of what is submitted and I could delete more if I was a real stickler. And, I sleep every night at about 10 PM.

I was thinking that just reading 300 articles a day would take a lot of time. You must read faster than I do.

I just skim and look for glaring errors.

It is a sad fact that article marketing has been transferred into the conveyer belt system of production.
On far too many article sites you will see duplications and nonsense created by article spinners.
Unfortunately, those who use spinners do so because that is what they have been told to do.
I closed my own article site because I discovered that many of the articles were arriving from SEO companies!

Thank you for sharing this information, Larry.
Some of these mistakes are the fault of our haste mentality today. We can't take the time to do it right.
Keep up the good work.
Best wishes.

The typo I usually find in my articles is you instead of your. Perhaps it is because I broke my left index finger. I am very disgusted that our local newspapers have so many errors in them. It does pay to proof.

Laraine Apr 22, 2011 06:26
We can all make typos from time to time, but what you write about is often down to a "can't be bothered" attitude. Such a pity you have to delete so many articles you receive. Those who submit such articles are wasting everyone's time, including their own of course. I suspect some people just think they should be allowed to be the exception to the rule.
